Please join the Friends of Riverside Cemetery for a Hidden Secrets Tour on May 22 at 10 a.m. and at 2 p.m.
The tour will:
- Examine the fascinating meaning behind monument symbolism
- Discuss the history of the rural cemetery movement
- Explore the stories of some lesser-known figures who populate this beautiful National Historic Site, and
- Perhaps, even reveal some of Riverside’s secrets.
We are asking for a $10 free-will donation to help support our activities and to help us maintain our 36 acres. Please try to arrive 20 or 30 minutes early to find parking.
Our tour in October was a big success. Approximately 230 people turned out to hear the history of Waterbury’s industrialists and inventors, and look at the striking art that graces the landscape. This tour will go a bit deeper, and promises to enlighten first-time visitors to Riverside and avid taphophiles.
